It is already almost a year since our last post on the blog! Amazing how time flies and we never realise it. Apparently during this year a lot of things have happened to all of us, some got married, some died, some won the lottery jack pot, some traveled - but this would be the subject of a different post. :-) :-)

This last summer in particular Naxos proved to be a very popular destination among Europeans, despite the crisis the country faced in July. What is also very promising is that the season was extended until September and even in October tourists kept arriving to the sunny island.

What is exciting for us is that since our last communication

1. We upgraded the design and the content of the website, in order to make it more user friendly, clearer and brighter! Moreover, we introduced for most of the accommodations a calendar where you can immediately see the availability of rooms, studios and apartments (this of course is a work in progress). And no, it has nothing to do with "scary booking", practiced by many providers of tourist or transport services worldwide. We don't -and never will- show small windows with information like “20 people are looking at your accommodation at this very moment” or “we only have one studio left, which will possibly be booked the next 3 minutes”. 
   We just show you the real and simple information, available or booked. 
   
   
2. We developed partnerships with new luxurious accommodations! Take a look:

My Villa
A brand new group of private luxus villas located in Agios Arsenios just some minutes from Naxos town (Chora). Each villa for up to 4 persons is fully equipped and has a private swimming pool.

This new luxurious villa for up to 6 persons is located just 200 meters from Alyko beach and offers accommodation for up to 6 persons. Come with us to a new Naxos hotel in 2015

Picking up from where we left, we are happy to introduce to you our new partner, Hotel Francesca.

Hotel Francesca is at just 60 meters from the beach of Agios Prokopios, in a quiet area. The hotel offers rooms for 2, studios for up to 4 and spacious apartments for up to 5 persons, equipped with all amenities you expect in a hotel (such as WiFi, TV, hair dryer, safe, etc.). In addition they have free parking and a children's playground. Free breakfast is included in the room rate (if you book a studio or an apartment breakfast is charged an extra 5 euro per person).

However, most important of all, your hosts want to provide a family atmosphere in their hotel and make you feel really at home.

The advantage when booking a hotel at Agios Prokopios is that all facilities are in a walking distance (super markets, restaurants or bars, bus stop, pharmacy) as well as our scuba diving partner and one of our rent a car partners. Let alone the crystal waters of the beach, which is awarded with a Blue Flag Award.

Are you ready for Naxos holidays 2015?

Summer season 2014 is over – or is it not?

Well, October in Greece is still in a summer mood, the sun is shining, the temperature ranges in the mid-20s and the seas are warmer than in July! Still, our partners on Naxos are closing down for winter and we are all making plans for the next season.

We, Naxos Apartments, are in the process of gradually updating our website. First of all we are uploading new photos! Gradually we present all accommodation with more photos in a bigger resolution so that you can have a better understanding of the facilities and services offered by each partner. Some of you having been asking for photos of the exact room you will buy -hem, sorry- rent, so we are trying to fulfill your needs.

In parallel, we are updating the prices for 2015. Not everybody has yet a price policy for the next season, we see a trend of increases after almost 5 years of stable prices, with special seasonal offers. But still we have good news.

The owners of Villa Alyko have substantially decreased their prices. For instance, a family with children - or anyway 8 friends - could spend their holiday in the period between 10 June - 15 July and pay 205 € / day, or in September and pay 155 € / day. And you know what, a rental car is included in this price!!

The villa is at 200 m. from secluded, sandy Alyko beach - yes, the villa does have a sea view - and has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, garden with barbecue plus of course facilities such as air conditioning, SAT TV, Internet and washing machine.

Don't take long, book even now, this is a very good offer, up end accommodation and car and majestic beach!

August's supermoon on Naxos

Celebrate the full moon tomorrow on Naxos, it will be a supermoon! 

What is a supermoon? Well, it is a popular term for perigee full (or new) moon, meaning a new or full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit.

The supermoon of this August is one of the largest and brightest full moons of the year. The U.S. Naval Observatory says the moon will be 12% bigger and 30% brighter than it was in January 2014. Let me remind you that, according to NASA, the full moons of this summer, on July 12, August 10 and September 9, are all supermoons - so you will still have a chance in September :-) .

So, how will you enjoy the phenomenon?

• 21:00 at the Ancient Sanctuary of Dionysus at Yria, a tribute to the nobelist poet Odysseus Elytis. Poetry and prose performed by the Naxian actress Anastasia Marmataki.

• 21:30, Bazeos Tower a concert by Nikos Portokaloglou. A journey through the world of Greek music led by a group of excellent musicians: songwriter and singer Nikos Portokaloglou, Vaggelis Markantoni, bass-guitar-vocals and Haris Michailidis, guitar-vocals

• 22.30, Full moon party at Plaka Beach

• Or any other beach or simply at the port of Naxos! And you could post your photos on our Facebook page

Our iPhone app now available!

 
Faithful to our promise, last week we uploaded to iTunes store our iPhone application, Naxos-Apartments! Since yesterday, the app is available for free to download!

As a Naxos guide, it provides the useful info on how to come to Naxos, where to stay, where to eat and what to do and see - all info available with maps and routing, so a very handy tool when you are on the spot and need to find your way across the biggest island of the Cyclades.

A series of photos reveal the beauties of the places we recommend and you can have direct access to important service providers, such as ferries, rent-a-car, restaurants, activities and first aid.

And a whole section devoted to Athens, the new - old European hot spot for city travelers! What else would you want?

Testing our new Naxos Apartments / guide application

Well, we are vigorously going on developing our naxos-apartments smartphone application!

The application, like our website, provides access to booking with one of our partners on the island and offers a variety of tourist information on how to access Naxos, what to do and what to see on the island.

All accommodation, rent a car, attractions etc are accompanied with text and photos and most importantly are tagged on google maps so you can find your way when on the island.

In addition we have an RSS feed to this very blog so you will always get the latest news on offers, events, activities and whatever!

We shall keep you posted! We expect it to be available in itunes store in June 2014.

Long time no see! All this time, we have been busy redesigning our website, updating useful travel information on how to reach Naxos via Athens, Santorini or even Myconos and last, but not least, enriching the variety of accommodation we offer you. Plus working on an iPhone application which will facilitate your travel and your stay on the island - we'll keep you posted on this promising project.

To get back to "what's up" with Naxos Apartments, we always have as our priority your satisfaction. Therefore we constantly control whether every and each one of our partners is flexible, qualified to offer the best or responsive to your needs. Bearing this in mind, we have added the following new accommodation and we are happy to provide you with more options:

• Hotel Katerina, located at only 60 meters from the beach of Agios Prokopios, offers rooms, studios and apartments, as well as a swimming pool with jacuzzi. The hotel is centrally located, meaning you can reach on foot a mini market, the bus stop, taverns / cafes or a car rental and prices range from 35 to 119 €, depending -as in all cases- on type of room, tourist period and occupancy. And remember, children up to 3 years old can stay FREE OF CHARGE
• Sunday Studios are at 60 meters from Agia Anna beach and all necessities can be reached on foot (market, restaurants, cafes). Prices start at 22 € and some of the studios / apartments offer sea view.
• Cycladic View Hotel, at 300 meters from Agia Anna beach, offers studios for up to 4 persons. Prices start at 30 € for 2 persons up to 70 € for 4. Children up to 3 years old can stay FREE OF CHARGE
• Villa Harmony, at 50 meters from Plaka beach, offers studios and apartments for up to 4 persons with prices ranging accordingly from 32 to 110 €. Some of the studios and apartments have a great sea view and the hotel also offers a swimming pool and a cosy pool bar. Here also children up to 3 years old can stay FREE OF CHARGE

What's more, we have a couple of interesting news on our existing partners:

• Sea Melody (Plaka) has a special offer for this June: instead of 36 €, they offer their studio for 2 persons at 30 €
• Valena Mare (Plaka) is at the moment constructing a swimming pool at the premises, so come spring you can enjoy your refreshments by the pool bar or host your own personal barbecue! Soon we will upload photos of the swimming pool area. And don't forget, the beach is at 2 minutes walking distance and they offer for free sunbeds and beach towels. Plus, Valena Mare welcomes your pets!
• Stafilas Studios (Agia Anna), starting this season, will provide optional breakfast to the guests: 

-   8 € / 2 persons,
- 10 € / 3 persons and
- 12 € / 4 persons.
